Description:
The University of Reading is one of the top research-intensive universities in the UK. The Intelligent Media Systems & Services Research Laboratory (IMSS, www.imss.reading.ac.uk) is an internationally well-established and dynamic group with a large and expanding portfolio of EU/DTI/MoD/EPSRC-funded research projects in strategic ICT fields and involving close alliances with world-class academic and industrial players in the UK and globally. The IMSS research agenda is pushing forward the frontiers of advanced model-driven and service-oriented semantic-cognitive architectures as underpinned by agent technologies, middleware, ambient-assistive intelligence, and, multi-modal interfaces including virtual/augmented reality to realise smart and secure interactive-cooperative systems.
We are offering to self-motivated individuals with software engineering and research experience, the opportunity to work within a highly creative team, enjoy international collaborative research and present their work at centres of excellence in Europe and beyond.
You will have:
A Maters Degree qualification in Computer Science or a closely associated discipline with software and systems engineering experience (exceptionally a 1st Class Honours Degree with a relevant final year project may be considered).
A software engineering R&D background and working knowledge involving any one of the following areas is also required:
Ø Enterprise Systems Integration- J2EE- Client Server Technology
Ø Network Security & Trust Modelling, ID Management, Intrusion Detection Systems (IPS-IDS)
Ø Real-time Signal Processing with Embedded Systems and Sensor Networks Integration for Ambient Intelligence
Ø Semantic Workflow Integration, Semantic Grid, Semantic Web n* Services Simulation
Ø Advanced Multimedia Interactive Systems Design, Multimodal ECAs
Ø Advanced Signal Processing, Image Recognition, Image tracking, scene understanding, 3D modelling
Ø Data Mining, linked mining, data warehousing, distributed databases, machine learning, CBR
